On View February 1 - February 23
“Forcing Feelings Into Shape Molds” is a collection of sculptures, prints, and works on paper. It is also a grouping of quilts, a table set with tools for working and eating, a stack of puddles, and a floating brain in space. Styrofoam from a dumpster, glued with hobby glue, is cast and colored. Prints made from other prints layer and touch until they can — strong enough — stand together as one. Works made on flat surfaces rise onto walls, gesturing toward lightness. Is it going to break? Is it going to hold? Invisible labors — of sensitivity, of care, of not looking away — are the glue that holds one shape to another shape, and the whole thing together. The shapes themselves are tangled guts, and touches, and gentle reminders to stay awake.
